Four Arrested, Three Sought for Sword Murder of Student

Police in Phnom Penh captured a young understudy and three men on Thursday evening and Friday morning for supposedly killing a secondary school rival with a sword a month ago, and said they were looking for three extra suspects right now on the loose.

The seven associates are blamed with killing Oeun Samorn, 16, with a samurai-style sword after he drove by on a motorbike and "ridiculed" them as they lingered outside a soda pop shop in Pur Senchey area on the night of June 13.

Chea Sovann, an appointee locale police boss, recognized the captured suspects as Hong Sun Ey, 16, an understudy; Noeurn Makara, 25, an auto repairman; and Sao Vathey, 20, and Long Seng, 18, both unemployed. He said the suspects and the casualty were from two opponent gatherings of "hoodlums" who either went to the region's Chumpou Voan High School or were companions with understudies.

Thang Kosal, the police head of Choam Chao cooperative, said Oeun Samorn had irritated the suspects by driving by with his companions to "deride" them as they sat before the soda pop shop. A contention resulted, after which Oeun Samorn evidently hit one of the suspects in the face, the police boss said.

"At that point one of the suspects took the samurai sword and they pursued him on their motorbike to hack him for reprisal," he said.

Mr. Kosal said that Oeun Samorn and his companions had attempted to escape on their motorbikes, however that Oeun Samorn's under-controlled Honda Today bike couldn't outpace the Yamaha F-Z bike driven by the suspects with the sword.

"His bike couldn't go as quick as… the suspects' bicycle," he said. "The suspect arrived and began to hack him from behind and fled after the casualty tumbled to the ground."

The four suspects were addressed on Friday at the Pur Senchey region police headquarters, and each of them admitted to having been involved in the assault yet each guaranteed that he was not the attacker who managed the lethal blow, according to agent locale police boss Touch Phorn.

"Regardless of the possibility that they were not the aggressors, they helped with this assault and made some beyond words," said, including that every one of the four would be sent to court to face charges throughout the weekend
